My wife and I were out at the Illlinois Railway Museum today
photographing and reasearching the history of their Santa Fe heavyweight
sleeper/lounge car.  We got all the information we needed, and the day
was also productive in that I found a short-cut that reduces my
home-to-IRM travel time from 60 to 45 minutes.

In leaving the museum, we walked past U.S.Army Porter switcher 8537.  A
man was standing there looking at the switcher, and as we approached, he
asked if I could take his photo next to it.  He started to hand me his
camera when I looked at his face, then looked at the "U.S. Army" name on
the switcher behind him, and something clicked.  I immediately said, "Is
your name Harold...Harold Geissenheimer?"  He said, "Yes"!  Now, I hadn't
seen Harold since the 1972 PRMA banquet at the Greentree Marriott, and
although we have been exchanging e-mails off-line, neither of us knew
that we'd be at Union today.    What makes this meeting all the more
unusual is that there were hundreds of people at IRM, and both of us
where there for only a short time.  I'm truly glad we had this
one-in-a-million chance to meet, especially since we've both been at some
of the same raiil sites (Dallas, Streamtown, Denver) recently, but always
a few weeks apart.

Yes, it was a great day.
