Continuing the ebay discussion....the description of this book on ebay
states that it's an "Ex-library copy" - in other words, the seller probably
bought it for pennies, and now he'll make at least $100 on his ebay sale.
<p>My local library has several shelves of books that are extra copies.
These books are placed on shelves in the lobby, and are sold for 50-cents
or $1 each depending on SIZE (never mind the content or rarity).
I have gotten some good bargains there, including some of the old S.Kip
Farrington railroad books, a Car Builders Cyclopedia and numerous Time-Life
science books.
<p>I'm sure that many libraries dispose of their surplus books this way.
