Jerry and all, My dad worked as chief estimator at Power Piping Co. on Beaver Ave. on the north side. One of my early memories was going to the office Christmas party in Donora. Was there another Power Piping Co. located there? I remember dad parking at the office then we'd walk to Three Rivers Stadium to see a ballgame. I remember it being a long walk. I guess dad was too cheap to pay for parking. Or maybe having 7 kids made him more thrifty. Too bad the trolleys weren't still running there. My Dad was employed by the Donora Zinc Works which caused the problem along with the inversion of the air over the valley. It was a bad time and that is what eventually closed that steel city down and the rest of the Steel Industry in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
