Of course the chap is insulted that routes that have greater patronage have closer headways than the line on which he lives. You know the mentality … because 22 Crosstown has a car every five minutes, my line should too. And because the company allows standees in the rush hour and that is when I ride, that is grossly unfair. Of course they have to have extra cars that are only used a few hours a day to haul rush hour crowds but that doesn't matter … I'm important. :<)</div><div><br></div><div>By the way … 40 Mt. Washington had about 7,300 weekday riders in the 1948 Louge report. Route 38 Mt. Lebanon had 12,600. 42 Dormont had over 13,300. One would expect two cars on each of those lines to pass for every route 40 car.</div><div><br></div><div>By the way, Crosstown didn't have a huge number of riders … only about 10,625 on a typical weekday. However, it did have the highest number per route mile in the entire system … 2.2 million per mile per year. The only line approaching it was 85 Bedford with 1.9 million, then 88 Frankstown with 1.65 million. Mount Washington was only about 539,000 per mile per year … think about it … you have a long bridge and a long tunnel where you cannot pick up anyone. </div><div><br></div><div>If you have never seen the Louge Report, it is attached too. Of course those lines we loved the most were the ones that raked in the least amount of money.</div><div><br></div><div>Finally, Ed Lybarger, do not send the apostrophe police to arrest me. I typed what was in the newspaper and I am sure they typed what was in that man's letter. </div><div><br></div><div></div>
