think local Shannon service continued in 1951 and possibly up to 1953;
all
that happened as far as Charleroi and Washington cars are the
following
2-items: -1-)--They did not run in tandem but were 15-minutes
apart;
-2-)--they ran local most of the time with some rush-hour
quasi-limited
service through the single track thru Overbrook.

Please take a look at
the service for All Interurbans on
30-Aug-1953----After the Washington
line was abandoned. Service through
Overbrook was every 10-minutes
-- this in the Fall of 1953! Local
Shannon service was still needed in
1951 -- somewhere I have seen
7-8+minute headway through Overbrook mid-day
in the early 1950s! Thus,
there was a local car (37/L) mid-way
between the 15-min headway
alternating between Charleroi and
Washington.

Chris Walker has his degree in "media" but please do not
quote me on
that; he does have his degree, however. He is current
Pat employee in
the schedule dept and very active PTM volunteer -- he has
a way to go to
hit the 30+Mark! But he has done some schedule
research in the
PTM-Archive that was a real eye-opener. I have
searched his email but
can not find the reference; it may be on another
computer and difficult
to find. I shall write him again but his
schedule is demanding; he does
not have much opportunity to
write.

Charleroi Ops had a Pittsburgh and separate Charleroi
crews. Crews
would trade at Riverview loop; they did not operate the
whole line but
stayed "local!"

HERB: The Library schedule
June-28-1953 is an interim schedule until
Washington is abandoned
end-of-Aug-1953-------this is only 2-months
after Charleroi. As
noted above, mid-day Service through Overbrook was
every 10+min in the
Fall of 1953 -- Library itself was every 20-minutes
mid-day! Service
was still quite intense.

I forget the exact date but 42-Dormont was
every minute in the PM rush
for about 30+min give or take; 38-Mt.Lebanon
was every 2-minutes. This
about 1951-1953.

Thank You for the
information on the book; I certainly look forward to
publication.
Yes; color should be improved. But I like Ed's photos and
captions
-- he had previous books including several different systems up
the Ohio
in addition to PRCo that is priceless in this regard. Great
photos
and captions that really tell a story! I like Ed's books
infinitely
