<DIV><FONT size=4>I’m amazed that that turntable is still extant.
Phillipston was a point on the planned “low grade” freight cutoff through East
Brady that never was finished. It would have avoided the grades and congestion
west of Altoona (Horseshoe Curve-Gallitzin-Cresson, etc.) PRR spent so
much money on the new station in New York City and its associated tunnels and
such that there was insufficient money left to complete the cutoff, which had
been championed by Samuel Rea. One can only imagine what might have been
had this work been finished.</FONT></DIV>

wandered around north of my place yesterday. I am sure Dwight recognizes the
trestles near Chicora on the old B&O.The turntable is at Phillipston on the
Allegheny Valley Branch of the PRR.The last views give you a small glimpse of
