Twin Coach 52 was the first trackless coach to arrive in Milwaukee. The year was 1936, and it was among the first coaches to debut on route 21, North Avenue. This was the first trackless trolley route in Milwaukee. One of the main reasons for the conversion, was street work on North Avenue. Paving the street was delayed, but I don't know if it was because the rail was being removed, but on November 6, 19366, the trackless trolley years officially began! The exterior was streamlined, (as shown by the slick advertising folder produced by the TMER&LC , and the interior was plush (by 30s standards)

On January 16, 1950, at the corner of 52nd and North Avenue, Twin Coach 52 )one of the coaches that ushered in the trackless trolley in 1936) made an unexpected stop through the front window of the Lawrenz Grocery Store. No one was hurt, but I would give anything for one of those boxes of Rice Krispies today!
