L4 has its correct horns again. Take it from me...ya don't wanna be standing in front of 'em when they go off!!! (WHAAAAAT??????)
That horn on the 415 (and 277) is a Strombos truck horn. Yes, they're blah. (Ironically, the 233 and 277 had a single-bell version of the TM horn (AC-1, I think it was; TM's were AAC-1s) for many years.
One of the horn types used by the North Shore (AA-2) is very similar to the TM's horns, albeit with straight cast bells. They can sound very, very good.

I remember the earliest TWERHS days at East Troy. The 757, 763 and L-4 had
them. They really rang through the countryside. I would have loved to have
heard a set on a train passing at 60-70 mph.
The 757 & 763 eventually received proper horns.
Worst sounding? The single horn on IRM's IT suburban car. I believe some of
the SSL's 1980s cars initially had some wimpy sounding horns, too.
Some guy in town has a Nathan five chime set mounted in the bed of an F-250.
He's not a railfan, just a regular sort of nut. ;-)
