Scott G and list: Close.... all of the 1100 passenger cars that
remained on the property at the end of operations, were brought down
from Oakland Car Station on the Sunday before. They were stored at the
20th Street Team Tracks, adjacent to the 'third rail', or freight line.
That trackage extended from 20th street to the west end at 23rd street
where the Milwaukee Gas Light Company holders stood.

Utility cars were stored on the westbound mainline between 8th and 10th
streets, to protect passenger cars on the eastbound track and those cars
stored on the subway entrance run-around tracks. No cars were stored on
the deck, nor under it as that property was not owned by Speedrail.

When the Speedrail cars were set, the westbound main track was still
vacant for the final movements. The D21 Line Car was spotted on the
west end of the run-around trackage at the top of the grade so-as-to-be
available for immediate use ..... whatever! The final movement from the
PSB was the 1144 pulling the E 56 flat car, loaded with brake shoes
etc., from the pits of the PSB. That occured on the Wednesday after
service was discontinued. As I recall, Bob Bykowski and I were the crew
on that final movement.

After that, the 1144 and E 56 were backed down to the Deck entrance
track and there they remained until orders were made to begin scrapping.

Final closure was the movement of the Utility cars which were backed
down on the westbound main to fill in as a buffer to stone throwing by
kids from Hibernia Street.

The 1141 was placed at 20th street along with the other cars from
Oakland and stayed there.
