I suppose hindsight is 20/20, but  I believe TM should have given up and 
made the bypass trackage to the south the permanent main line.....or built a 
side of the road section through Muskego for the few blocks to avoid that 
swamp.

I believe it was both arrogance and pride on TM's part to try to maintain 
that mess. Even today, as a bike path, your recent photos show this right of 
way is "jiggley" and sinking.
