Ken: I see that you are now at photo 001. This must be quite a
library of photos.

The two photos in question are on private right of way, just west of
37th Street. The Red brick building is a TMER&L, now WEPCO, substation
located on the north west corner of 37th and Wells. Just ahead of the
westbound lead car is a crossover and then a wye track which was used to
gain entrance to the 37th Street Yard. The land was larger than the
yard as the wye track led north then east and was used for storage of a
B series sweeper, in ready condition to battle winter's snowfalls.

This yard location was also used to temporarily hold streetcars which
had developed problems requiring them to leave service. A Company phone
box was also available on a line pole for direct connection ot WEPCO's
operator who would direct the call to appropriate service departments.

The lead photo suggests that the two cars are on a fan trip as in Ed
Wilkommen's parlance, ... 'a fan free photograph'.

Most likely, the two cars are on Charter on the Sunday before
abandonment. Those cars were 972 and 966, if I remember correctly.
Although my 'webber' is not as sharp in photo downloads, there does not
seem to be any Run Number, on the lead car. Most likely, not enough EX
Run Numbers to go around in those latter days.

Don L.
