Was that carbarn located in Shorewood or Milwaukee?
Two months after the last trackless trolleys stopped running, I lived
that summer in the apartment building (with the Chinese restaurant)
right next door. AFAIK, its location was in Shorewood, and because of
that I could use the "exclusive" Atwater Park, reserved generally to
those living in Shorewood--the park people might check us for Shorewood
ID info for entry back then (1965).
At one time, Keefe was the Milwaukee city limits. So, it seems that
Edgewood must have been the city limits at that time (1900?) too. And
still is.
In that photo, what was that long ramp (building east of Oakland) over
the alley leading into? That could have been a real bitch getting in or
out of that building. I do not remember what that building was, but it
appears to be still standing.
And you don't see many kerosene lanterns today either, as by the
barricade or whatever.
