Derails

Just when you thought we were finished talking about derails...

I just found a Northside newspaper clipping from the mid-1980's in which
an oldtime resident of Spring Hill gives his recollections of the 5
Spring Hill line. Nothing new we haven't heard before, and his dates for
the line extensions were accurate. He talked about the "switch on Itin
Street", and how inbound trolleys had to stop at this switch, and the
motorman go out and re-set the switch by hand before proceeding down the
hill. He referred to this switch being on Itin near Goehring Street (the
passing siding), but I'm sure he was recalling the derail near the bottom
of Itin St.
