I do not know about the "Trafford Express," however, I used to try to get one
of the 1600s that was still in PRCo. paint when I would operate a morning
42/38 inbound tripper. I do not recall the car number but I do recall the
destination sign on that particular car. The sign shop would sometimes put
"joke" type aspects on the sign. This 1600 series had the aspect "GOTHAM CITY
via BATCAVE" as the last sign. When I crossed the Smithfield St. Bridge I
would change the sign to this and would watch the smiles and pointing from
people walking along the sidewalks throughout downtown.
Perhaps the picture you are referring to was one of the signs created when
the sign shop didn't have a whole lot to do that day.
