Hello:
I looked at Jim's post again and decided that I answered the wrong question.
I was looking at a different BACK side. So I'll define the sides: North
faces the 44-48 line, West the Overbrook and 38-42, East the run-around
track, and the South side faces the open area of the triangle. As
constructed in 1907 the South had no porch, it was bricked in. I deduced
this from the stated size of the building, 60 x 35, and measurements from my
prototype track plan on the web. The East side was originally built with a
porch as can be seen in Ray's picture and that West View Park picture. As I
said I have a picture dated 1949 that also shows a porch on this side.
Sometime after that date the East side was bricked in. On the TGM tape I
saw two doors and no windows along that side.
On pictures of the South wall there appears to be something, long and narrow
hanging below the "porch" roof, most clear on the West View Park picture.
Does anyone know what this item is?
I have a construction cost workup that I'll scan and post on the web page
when I get the chance.
Thanks.
Bob

The back was definitely "bricked in". I think it was after 1949, I believe
I had a picture from 1949 showing a porch on that side, I'll look tonight.
The Transit Gloria Mundi South Hills tape has a good shot of that side and
there is no porch. I've already modified my mock-up.
How many pains are in the windows. From what I can see the bottom of each
double hung window has a single pain while the top has many small pains.
Does anyone know for sure?

Greetings!
Looking at that photo from Ray Lattner again - it appears that the
porch on the building ran aound at least three sides - these sides being
the most prone to having people on them for one reason or another. On
the *back porch* it appears that either a door is open or there is
another bay that sticks out possibly closer to the north end but not on
the end and apparently not exactly in the middle.
And from the 2/3 view from the South Park book, it looks like the
south
end of the building may have been extended and bricked in to obliterate
any porch which might have been here. I noticed this possibility from
another photo - the south end brick seemed to be newer than the rest of
the building.
