Greetings!

http://trfn.clpgh.org/amcap/history.htm

The Port Authority has been operating mass transit in Allegheny County since 1964.
What do you know about the
predecessor companies?

Who were they? What areas did they serve? What did their equipment look like?
These and other questions will be answered through periodic updates to this web
site. Thanks go to the following: Some of the text is condensed from articles
which appeared in Motor Coach Age, written by Ray Foley and Ollie Miller. Their
pioneering efforts helped to preserve the pre-PAT era of transit. Pennsylvania
Trolley Museum Archivist Ed Lybarger has been instrumental in permitting access to
material compiled by PAT, including photos taken at the times of acquisition of
the independents, copies of timetables and tickets, and the yet-to-be-explored
"secret records" that Pittsburgh Railways kept on the competition! As time and
resources permit, we'll turn each company name into a link. As always, help is
appreciated. Stay tuned!
