Pittsburgh in San Francisco]

About a week ago I sent Jim Holland a summary of the PRC night fantrip
held after the Saturday banquet of the NMRA Convention in Pittsburgh in
August, 1958. Without going into too much detail, the PRC cars lined up
on Grant St. in front of the William Penn Hotel to pick up convention
attendees for a ride to South Hills Jct., a stop on Grandview Avenue, and
then a ride on the Knoxville incline before returning downtown. What was
interesting was that they used one PCC from each of the series from 1000
to 1700, plus some older double-end PRC cars (one of which I rode on the
fantrip).

After reading about Rege Cordic's passing, I recalled that he was the
guest speaker at the NMRA Convention banquet just before the frantrip.
He made a humorous presentation along the lines of his morning radio
program, but emphasizing his railroad interests and family ties (his
father worked for the B&O).
