Greetings!
All the photos I have of 3556 show it with one trolley pole but
also provision for a front trolley pole with boards and hold down hook.
The photo of this car brand new (page 7 of the July 1952 ERA reprint on
the PRCo Interurban Division) clearly shows the car with one trolley pole
but with boards in place for a *front trolley pole* although the hold
down hook is not present. I believe this car is 50-52 feet long and it
has lines similar to the 3700 series but with a deck roof like the low
floor cars. In this latter photo, only one end has a pilot and the front
entrance is for the motorman only; this door was later converted for
passenger use.
I just received a photo of 3556 dated 1937.12.09 which shows the
car with two complete trolley poles, the rear one is up and the front
down and it also has an interurban retriever. It does not appear to have
a pilot at the *rear* end. It is sitting in a yard (which I presume to
be South Hills) with many low floor cars around but nothing in the
background to pinpoint location. The destination sign says: ROSCOE.
Was this car built with doors on both sides?
If above is no, were doors added to make it a complete double
ender?
