PRCo 1700 series cars -- Clarification!

Hola!

I sent the following message yesterday *with two attachments totalling 160k bytes* but it
did not *take* on the list. Maybe the software with the mail program doesn't allow it. The two
photos showed two different cars at two different locations in color, of course, with the gray
style roof monitor only. Both in winter.

I doubt the *poor print quality* angle for then why is the monitor and only the monitor
affected and not the rest of the roof or the rest of the cream on the car??!!

Greetings!

The gray roof monitor looks to be about the same color gray as was used around the windows
on the 3800 and possibly 3700 series cars. It is a very subtle shade - not the stuff PAT used.
I-F this is true, I assume it was to match the gray on the older interurbans. I am including a
couple pics for your inspection. They are dark but I didn't want to fool with brightness etc and
mask the colors. Seems to be more *noticeable* in the winter!

Even loking at some B&W shots reveals a very subtle difference in shading of the roof
monitor as compared to the rest of the roof.

Some of the early color slides and photos of the 17s from 1949-1953 show the roof monitor
alone, not the whole roof, painted gray. Can this be verified? I am wondering if it is poor
print quality or an illusion on my part.
