Ah, the memories. Those older then the "baby boom generation" will also
remember the likes of 46 Brownsville, 51 Bon Air, Carrick Car House (which
eventually became a supermarket) and there was probably a 52 also (or was
that Bon Air?).

For those younger, 50 Carson St., 39 Brookline and 40 Mt. Washington were
recent bus conversions, as was 77/54 service to Carrick. 37 was a rush-hour
short turn of 35 and 36; 38A was the rush-hour extension of 42/38 while 42
and 43 were rush-hour short turns; 44 operated "via PRR station", looping
at 12th St. and around the Greyhound Station, 47 was a rush hour only line
while 49 used Arlington Ave. and 53 used S. 18th St. to reach the southside.
As for "fractional" 42/38, it was created through abandonment of West
Liberty Ave. trackage used by 38 between Brookline Jct. and Dormont Wye, and
extension of 42 line over 38 to Clearview Loop. Wished I had taken some
slides of those convoys of small ACF-Brill shuttle buses leaving Clearview
Loop!

Pittsburgh truly was someplace special.
