on this list may find it of interest.  This list is courtesy of Port 
Authority Transit and apparently dates to about 1960/61 because of 
conversion dates "not" shown.  Maybe 99 available numbers doesn't equal 99 
routes afterall.

Out of curiosity, was there a historical reason for starting at the 
Allegheny River and generally numbering routes counter clockwise around the 
city?
