Yes - there were udder streetcars that came before the PCCs. I
have an 80+ page roster (on standard 8.5X11paper, mostly double column)
which lists each car and the date it arrived on PRCo property And / or the
date it was put into service anD the date of its disposition AnD some notes
about the type of disposition AND any conversions which took place!
But it certainly doesn't have all the different paint schemes
available - this will definitely drive Ed banananananananas! Adver-teasing
started mostly with the 1400 series cars during WW2 so to keep track of all
this would be a real chore! And the problem really compounds with the
advent of PAT and its rebirth by Fed directive and the myriad of paint
schemes that followed!
Several books, which you might have, are available thru PTM and are
published by them:::::::
1-- Streetcars in the Golden Triangle, 1859-1985
2-- Pittsburgh Trolley Pictorial
3-- Pittsburgh Double-Deck Cars
4-- Pittsburgh's Experimental 6000's
These books and pamphlets (the latter 2) are mostly pictures of the
equipment but have extremely pertinent captions. The latter two contain
substantial text describing the cars in addition to HO scale car plans.
They should give you a good feel for the equipment that PRCo had. PRCo had
between 1,000 and 1,100 of the standard low-floor design, both single and
double end as well as trailers.
Another book, *The Street Railways of Pittsburgh, 1859-1967* by Tom
Parkinson is published jointly by the Light Railway Transport League of
Britan and the PTM. This does have a roster of equipment by car series and
the year of purchase and disposition.
