Brooklyn apparently used a split destination sign; Philly apparently
used a small separate roller for numbers to display a route like the
*53 10 LUZERNE* where it *appears* as if the 53 might be rolled separate
from the rest. San Francisco uses split destination signs but only the Magic
Carpets had the split in the glass. Looks like Washington used a couple
splits to display numbers. It *appears* as though Montreal and Toronto both
used split destination signs and had quite a few cars with split panes.
Interestingly, the Boston *Queen Mary*, 3001, which was ordered in
October of 1936, had a single pane destination signs as did other Boston
cars.
Don't know the reason for the split -- -- -- -- -- -- --
Please ask questions where answers are known!!!!!!!
