Yes, its still Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon.

My teen-age memories include riding the 38 and 39 cars out West Liberty Ave.
in the early 60s, and never paid attention to where the name changed to
Washington Road. The PAT system map indicates the vicinity of Dormont
Station, or probably where truck rt. 19 crosses a municipal boundary,
because it is still known as Washington Road above the subway in Mt.
Lebanon.

Speaking of maps and West Liberty Ave., so where in "Lower St. Clair
township" was West Liberty??? ("Liberty" apparently just referred to common
pasture land)

You say "don't I mean Upper St. Clair twp.?" For the trivia enthusiast, an
1858 map of Pittsburgh (I really need to update some of our maps!!!)
indicates that the south hills of Pittsburgh was carved out of Lower St.
Clair and most of Baldwin townships. It doesn't show "West Liberty", which
was probably a mine patch. Was it what is now Dormont or perhaps at the
south end of the Liberty Tubes????
And what was Palm Garden? (and it wasn't the trestle)
Maybe Ed has a map handy from around 1900.
