Finleyville not Canonsburg

Greetings!

Yes -- it seems like every second or third photo is mislabeled -
date, place, etc. A shot of Ingram yard shows a 1700 and is labeled
1947 and PCC 1799, which went to Ingram, arrived on the property
1949.05.31 and was placed in service on 1949.07.27. ((This is strange
because all the other PCCs were usually placed into service within 3-7
days. Interestingly, 1798 arrived 1949.05.23 and went into service with
1799.))
Also, a shot of #100 at Clearview Loop, 38-Mt.Lebanon, is labeled as
South Hills Junction. I have the very same photo which I purchased from
Bill Nixon. While Bill is probably not the photographer (he has bought
negatives from many people) he is never-the-less the owner of the
negative and I feel it is unethical if not downright illegal to post
such a photo without permission and without identifying the owner and /
or photographer. I won't do that with my photo collection.
Additionally, in the 1980s, Bill and I traded slides. Bill got
*originals* from me of the San Francisco Trolley Festivals (and I won't
hesitate to say that they are some extremely good photos for I learned
the sun angles and used it to advantage in taking the photos) while I
got color copies of PRCo B&W prints which makes for strange photos! (I
did receive some good color copies of color slides, but the older and
more desireable prints were B&W.) M-a-n-y of these are of Bill Nixon's
prints - the ones of the two 16 interurbans at the Washington interurban
wye, the 16 with local 4383 on the North Washington line, the ones of
the 16s on the Washington trestles - all discussed here and all on
Dave's website! I now have the prints which I purchased from Bill
Nixon.
Dave probably doesn't know these things about the photos he has posted,
but because of this, I have only gone to the site because people have
mentioned specific photos here on the list. I have definitely
considered Fallen Flags as an alternative because of these problems,
especially if I were to post any other photos. I believe I remember
reading something on Fallen Flags about protecting the rights of the
owner / photographer, and this impressed me.
