There were only twelve reconstructed 4000 series PCC cars before the
program was aborted. Four 1700s were extensively reconditioned but not
recontructed, making sixteen cars total before the rebuild program was
ended due to cost overruns.

By the end of Drake Shuttle service, only four or five cars were on the
property. 4004, 4008 and 4009 were operational. Another inoperable car
was also on the property (with its fleet number removed) and there was
(I think, but not sure) a fifth car (also dead.) 

My understanding is one car will be displayed at South Hills Village,
one is going to PTM and of the two or three remaining, I believe at
least one is going to a private owner.
