Just answered the prev. email about the PRCo. ticket you sent me, and see you
are a fellow member of our Pittsburgh chat group.
I have been interested in PRCo. since the mid 50's. I attended Bethany
college in W.Va. not far from Little Washington and spent a fair amount of
time at Arden in their early years. My West Penn experience started in 1951
with a sighting of a 700 car while on vacation with my parents and then I
found a copy a copy of the PERC
West Penn pub. in 1953 I think, plus the Trains mag article in March 50 and
that about did it. I was hooked. My Whg. years started before the end of
operation and were renewed in 1955 when I met the late WJB Gwinn, a motorman
and railfan. We remained good friends until his death. I still have
relatives in Whg. and visit the city
now and then.
I have really enjoyed the PIttsburgh group and thanks to Derrick for setting
it up. I think we have all benefited from it. He is building an HO modual
of SHJ and I am completing the benchwork for an HO West Penn / PRCo. layout
of 6 x 16 using the MTS WP 700's, PRCo., early and late 1000's and a 1700
which isn't here yet. Many of the structures will be as close to prototype
as I can get, with a terminal that should look like Greensburg, car barn
layout about like the Co-Op's island barn from Wheeling, and so forth.
Thanks again for the info on the ticket. Hope it works out for both of us.
Fred
