Photo Similarities & 1225 Experimental B-3s

Greetings!

I have an extremely similar photo of 1136 as this one in Froyd's
collection (http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/jfp065.htm) but
the destination sign simply reads::: E. PGH via ARDMORE.
The photographer or collector is not identified on the back (possibly
Ben Rohrbeck) but the date is listed as 1948.
The photos must have been taken at the same time - the stone on top of
the time just forward of the car on the closer track is there as are
other strange identifying marks. The open windows are identical! The
low-floor car in the background is not in my shot but it could have
moved on out! Probably the same photographer (Dengler?) because of the
angle. Negatives may have wound up in different collections!
QUESTION: Wasn't the outbound track for the 42-line paved by this
time -- 1948? I question that date! I have a photo of one of the
experimental 16 interurbans which could be about 1946-1950 and that
outbound track is already paved. Don't remember seeing any 17s in the
photo so that would be 1948 or before!

And I have this exact - same - identical - photo but only in color:
http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/jfp068.htm. Probably had it
enlarged from a slide which I purchased so don't have the source handy
if it is even identified on the slide. Same details as to debris in the
photo!
	http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/jfp071.htm 1165 is on 11th
and I am guessing this is before the rebuild of this intersection, is
that correct?

	FAN-tastic; FantasTIC; FanTAStic! FANTASTIC!!
	http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/jfp073.htm is 1225 with a set
of the experimental B-3 trucks underneath her! This is the first photo
I have come across of a 12 with those trucks!
Fred S - your book says these trucks went under 1230 and 1278 - any
comments? Do any other pictures of these cars with the experimental
B-3s exist?

And an interesting side note -- on page 132 of *PCC The Car That
Fought Back* second paragraph upper right text I quote: "Note the
spring-applied, air-released tread brakes, used only on Pittsburgh's
1200s and the New York 'Bluebird' trains, which replaced a separate
parking brake."
Some while back we had a discussion of trucks etc and it was mentioned
that 12s on up came without tread brakes. I referred to several
different photos to shows that A-L-L PRCo cars came with wheel-tread
brakes except the 16s and 17s. We had some discussion about the 12s
since they had this different braking arrangement.

	http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/jfp088.htm an interesting
shot on Fifth during track rebuilding.

	http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/jfp100.htm says 42/38 on the
front and 38 on the side but it doesn't look like either. Seems to be a
hillside beside the left side. Looks more like Brookline loop.

	http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/jfp110.htm is Derrick's
neck-of-the-woods! This is in the vicinity where you took some
decades--later photos!

	http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/jfp122.htm Is this 55?

	http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/jfp125.htm - this ain't
pretty. Anyone identify further?

	http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/jfp135.htm - did 50-Carson
ever used 2nd Avenue?!
