But the car was Wheeling Public Service which ran until I believe 1937
(without checking.) Wheeling Traction, later Co-Op and Pan-Handle Traction,
both part of our
West Penn - PRCo-Johnstown group never got together with Wheeling Public
Service. I know they ran red and black buses until the early 60's. Wheeling
Public Service in later years used nice looking Kuhlman Cars which then went
to Birmingham and had doors cut in them for the segregated sections. At
least that is what this senile mind remembers.

Wheeling had a large "ridge line" that ran along the river. The main
commercial section of town ran between this ridge and the river. Co-Op ran
on two one way streets up and down the river, then over onto the island in
the main channel of the river (two routes on the island) and into Ohio for
several routes. Wheeling Public Service sort of followed the B&O out of town
to the east and served the residential areas "out the pike" which is Rt. 40,
the National Road. Most of the run was beside the national road and it ran
to Elm Grove and beyond. I have found few pictures of the line. Look in
CERA110 for more info, which I should have done before sending this.

Jim Holland - if 1777 has arrived can 1786 be in sight. No need to answer,
just
kidding.
