Those of you in Pittsburgh may be aware of this already, but WTAE-TV's
website broadcasts three web cam views of the city. The views seem to
be refreshed every 10 minutes, and zoom from wide angle to telephoto
from time to time. They are:

Spring Hill - there's a camera on Spring Hill which is the highest point
in the city. The view is southward toward downtown, and sometimes is a
close-up of Three Rivers Stadium. The camera seems to be located about
200 feet from the house where I grew up.

Mt. Washington - this is the expected view toward downtown and the
north, but lately the pan seems to be directed to Three Rivers Stadium.

So what do these cameras have to do with Pittsburgh trolleys? Well, the
third cam is located on the WTAE building on Ardmore Blvd. in Forest
Hills. Think of it...if we had this cam (and the Internet) in 1966, we
could be watching the parade of 87-Ardmore trolleys on our computer
screens all day long!
