Greetings!
It is a given that 1700-1724 - the interurbans - were based at South
Hills but I have been able to positively identify the fact that
1763-1769 were operating in South Hills from delivery. With South Hills
getting the first 25-17s as interurbans, the Westinghouse city cars were
pretty well distributed before South Hills got their complement.
Ray knows that his car, 1765, was based at Craft for quite a while so I
imagine the original assigment of city-17s was rather short-lived - not
more than 3-5 years - before cars were shifted from barn to barn.
The most elusive cars to track down in South Hills were the 16s but
from the few photos I have, it seems that the 1620s (most of them) were
originally assigned here. The list I found confirms that.
Tens were probably assigned when brand new - Rich Wagner of *Trolley
Talk* published a photo of a ten at SHJ in service. But the tens
disappeared fast and South Hills had a good complement of all other
series except the 15s.
