Work Equipment

Greetings!

Using an outside system, I went in to look at my email. PBI is
absolutely pathetic - will be changing ISP sometime this year.

At any rate, I noticed your two letters concerning the work equipment,
one direct to me. I looked at my copies and they are probably just as
bad as yours - I have to guess at the total number of work equipment
which looks like 511. Many of the scribbled entries cannot be read.

I quickly scanned thru the list and the following cars were the only
work equipment 1950 and forward, with a fair number scrapped in the
1950s; only 35 work cars in this list out of a total of 511 work cars:::

M018	McGuire Sweeper
M024	McGuire Sweeper
M026	McGuire Sweeper
M028	McGuire Sweeper
M036	McGuire Sweeper
M037	McGuire Sweeper
M050	McGuire Sweeper
M051	McGuire Sweeper
M052	McGuire Sweeper
M053	McGuire Sweeper
M054	McGuire Sweeper
M055	McGuire Sweeper
M056	McGuire Sweeper
M127	Wreck
M130	Wreck
M132	Wreck
M133	Traffic Paint
M196	Tow Car
M200	Tow Car
M212	Tower Car
M282	Crane Car
M401	Flat
M450	Snow Scraper
M453	Snow Scraper
M454 Snow Scraper
M456 Snow Scraper
M457 Snow Scraper
M458 Snow Scraper
M541	Loco for rail car
M546	Rail Grinder
M552	Dump
M555	Dump
M701	Rail Car
F8	Freight / Snow Plow
F9	Freight / Snow Plow

I did not include M1276 since I am only interested in equipment up to
1950 and this one was converted later. Additionally, 5432 was converted
to a Traffic and Paint Car in the mid-1950s after M133 was disposed of.

And many work cars were disposed of very early in their careers. Would
take some work but it would be interesting to see how many work cars
were actually in service in any one-year period.
