Biography

[Carl Zager]

Born 22 Feb 1943 in Pittsburgh.
Early childhood in Brushton, Bennett Street and Hamilton (Homewood).
Family moved to Parkway Ave in Penn Hills in 1948.
Family moved to Cherrydell Drive (off Greentree Road) in Scott Twp in
1954.
Attended Clark (Scott Twp) High School through 1960. Graduated Chartiers
Valley HS 1961.
Worked as a youth assistant at the Downtown YMCA through 1961. Was usher
at the United Artists Penn Theatre (now Heinz Hall) 1960-1961.
Was sports reporter/editor for the Monongahela Daily Republican/Donora
Herald American 1961-1962.
Was assistant sports information director for the Presidents Athletic
Conference, assistant and sports information director for Thiel college in
Greenville, PA., 1962-1966. Earned BA in English.
Married in 1966.
Graduate assistant in Instruction, School of Education, Miami University,
Oxford, OH, 1966-1968. Earned MS in Personnel Counseling. 
Taught English and Journalism, coached wrestling and baseball, Fairfield
HS, Fairfield, OH, 1968-1971. First daughter born 1968.
Moved to Bloomington, IN, 1971.  Second daughter born 1972. Taught English
and writing skills at Binford, Dyer, and Batchelor middle schools. Coached
middle school wrestling, football, baseball and track; defensive
coordinator Bloomington North HS football 1984-1990.
Became Instructional Technology Coordinator for Monroe County Community
Schools in Bloomington 1994.
First grandchild (Cassandra) born in 1995, lastest (Craig) born 2000.

First streetcar experiences were the double-ended and low floors in the
Homewood, Wilkinsburg area. Last experiences in Pittsburgh were the PCCs
through Mt Lebanon and Dormont (some starting in Drake/Library). Will
look for streetcar experiences (and railroad) in any location on vacation
or business trip. Neighborhood trolley is feature of HO layout. Am
planning to model a low floor if I can get good plans and time. Visit
Arden at every opportunity when visiting relatives in Pittsburgh. Rode the
trolley in Saettle, WA, last fall.
  
Returned to Ham radio three years ago as a Technician. Have passed 5 wpm
code and will be working on General license this fall.
