Brownsville line destination colors

I think it is indeed black. Have just reviewed some color slides that seem
to confirm this, and also what appears to be the green on Phillips. I'll go
down to the museum and look at one to be sure, but in my office there are
examples of each the Masonite window sign used in the 700s and the metal
side sign that rode just behind the doors on the 800s, and they are most
definitely white on green, just as the window sign reading "Vanderbilt" is
black on yellow.

I just looked at a color 12 x 14 blow up of a slide I have at the end of the
line in Brownsville. The sign looks black, but the colors are not all true
and it could be blue.
Would really like to help more.
