Memories

On the day of my first communion I had to be at the church very early. My
mother got me dressed in my new Whites before the sun came up and put me on
the streetcar. I was scared to death because I didn't know those old guys
riding around in the dark, including the motorman, but she told me not to
worry; they would let me off at the right stop. I don't remember any more
about the trip but apparently I was deposited at the church and got
purified. That was my first solo trip, from one end of Mt. Washington to
the other.

Subject: Memories
I was reading the notes on the backs of Roberta Hill's Route 40 pix. She
seemed elated about capturing 1241 on film on May 15,1962 (her first day in
Pittsburgh.) She wrote this was the very first Pittsburgh Railways car she
had ever ridden.
My first was 1614 during December, 1967. What do you other sentimental types
out there recall about your first ride on the system? (If you've been riding
since you were a babe in arms, what are your earliest memories?)
