TEA -- Historic Lines

Why Downtown? Because that is where the action is. If anyone wants to try
to carry this forward, the site has to be one where success is achievable,
or better yet, guaranteed. Where is the action and where are the tourists?
The South Side is where things are happening and the tourists are at the
inclines. It was mentioned that local merchants must get behind the
project. It seems to me that those merchants working to make the South Side
the "place to be" in the city would love to have the street car bring
tourists from the inclines and Station Square to their doors.

Look at where the historic trolley lines are successful. Dallas comes to
mind, the restaurant owners and merchants were the driving force behind that
operation. I'm sure there are others.

Downtown? Well maybe not exactly Downtown, that would never happen, but
stay in town. Building a line from, say Arden to little Washington, will be
a great boon to our kind, but it will not be enough to attract the average
tourist. The Street Car line must complement and supplement an existing,
growing, tourist trade.

So much for my humble opinion.

Why downtown Pittsburgh? Why not a historic line in Washington, PA, using
the
old PRCo. right of way and the same streets in Washington, PA. which PRCo.
used. Why, you could even use the facilities at that trolley museum there in

Washington! :-)
