Can you imagine Fred,

how large some of those reports could be in 1945
when every possible car was out on the street? I feel sorry for the passengers.
In 1945, there would be another car along in 3 to 5 minutes. Not so in 1960.

One of the advantages of retirement is working at the Baltimore Streetcar Museum
on Wednesdays for school groups instead of weekends. Had my first crack at that
today. Tried to describe a yellow Peter Witt as their great grandparents school
bus. How the heck do you explain trolley to 5-year olds. But why not use the
automobile? Destination signs? They've never even seen a bus. Fare box? You
mean people pay to ride? Even the teachers are so young they don't remember.

This is going to be a real problem for museums in the future. Can you imagine
finding people who are knowledgeable enough to even train the docents and
operators in what it was all about? We're now three generations away from the
people who rode the cars!!!!
