One of our East Penn Traction Club brethren, Ed Torpey, did just that using
a piece of PC board.  He used the it to throw track switched in a little
layout that he uses to teach kids (young and old) how to run a trolley car.
He had an "electronicized" controller and break valve that react like the
real thing.
