Trolley sign at P&LE station

I remember my first exposure to the delights of the former Ballarat tramways
in 1966, I was standing in Sturt St. (the main street where the tracks ran
down either side of a huge central reservation, it was more like a park the
length of the city and the track was in the street) at a tram stop when a
single truck California combination car waddled up going to the lake, the
Conductor leaned out the door and I asked how much to the Lake, he said, if
you're rich, 14 cents, if you're poor, 7 cents. Ah, they don't make em like
that anymore.
On my trams, we have a ticket machine half way down the car, ticket
validators all over the car, I have as little to do with the "self loading
baggage" as possible, few purchase tickets and less validate their's, they
are supposed to be cracking down on them, but I don't see it, the companies
Franchise has them increasing patronage 60% over the 12 years of their
franchise, yeah right, even if they did, what use if they don't buy
tickets!!! Sorry but society sucks these days, I long for the days of
Ballarat and the great Brisbane Connies who, if they saw you were a fan,
nearly always let ride free. I'm prattling!
Cheers
Greg
