Greetings!

	Gleanings From *Trolley Fare*
		July--1965

"A power switch has been installed in the lead from the 38A loop to the
37 loop at Shannon for the convenience of 37 trippers going on-route in
the morning."
"The bit of new trackage at West Liberty & McFarland (42 wye) was put
into service about 4 PM Sunday June 6, eliminating the short stretch of
single track and its associated bottleneck."
"Only the inbound track across the intersection and as far in as the 42
wye was rebuilt. The first few rails were installed and cemented in
during early May. On Saturday, June 5, service was cut back to the wye
beginning about 8 AM with buses running to the 38 loop. Most of the new
trackwork was finished that day; base paving and overhead were completed
the next day."
"Outbound trackage was unchanged, but one set of points was removed on
Monday the 7th and no doubt the other points and frogs will be extracted
before the final paving."

"On Monday June 14, [car] 1771 derailed on the 38A loop at Shannon.
This we note, was the same car that derailed repeatedly on 37 about a
year ago, and M1276 also derailed at this spot some time ago. The
reported cause of the derailment was a rock in the track. Until the car
was rerailed, the 38A was without service except for the car after 1771
which backed around the loop to the wye and thence to Clearview loop."
