Two things ... both off the subject. My apologies to the content
police.
1. One of you gave me instructions on how to get on the other mailing
list ... I thought it was railspot. I deleted by mistake before doing
anything about it. Please come back again.
2. Those who have asked will eventually get comments on my recent trip
to Germany and Switzerland, when I finally get the word file finished.
In the meantime, let me suggest that, because of the strengthening US
dollar and weakening Euro (and all the currencies to which it relates),
this was been my cheapest vacation overseas in years and if you're
thinking of a trip, now is the time to go. I found several small,
clean, family owned hotels from which the room charges were under $50 a
night. IBIS hotels were still under $95 for a double. Because of the
changes in currency exchange, gasoline was the cheapest I've ever seen
it in Germany and Switzerland ... I think it was down to $3.60 a gallon
in Germany. Two years ago I was paying over $5 in France. The German
Mark was about 2.2 to our dollar; I've seen it as low as 1.1 to the
dollar.
