Since you got a waiver to relate this subject to trolleys, I'll add...

My Dad worked at Heppenstall's from around 1939 until it closed in the
late 1970's.   My uncle worked at the Porter Locomotive Works next to
Heppenstall's, and I have a couple of their steam locomotive catalogs,
one of them from the late 1940's autographed by "W. Heppenstall".

By the way, the Chicago area still has drive-in restaurants with car hop
service (one has car hops on roller skates), and I stopped by there a
couple of weeks ago.  The very first McDonalds in the U.S. (white
building with arches and walk-up service) still exists in DesPlaines,
Illinois about 6 miles from here.  And, there are drive-in movies in the
area, but it's been a long time since I've been to one.

I was back at the Illinois Ry. Museum today, and it's a different place
than it was last week.  With 500 pieces of rail equipment, much of it
operating, you can do things like that.
