The same routes came together after 1984, though the 49 became the 52, the 42/38 and 35
and 36 all became part of the 42. There were still three physical lines fanning out from
that point. Granted, the barn and yard trackage (including the truncated P.R.O.W. of the
long abandoned Route 40) were removed, but it's still a junction! :-)

So would I. But let's face it, even if Pittsburgh remained a trolley oriented system,
the PCCs would have still needed to be replaced, lines would have been rerouted and
light rail characteristics would have eventually dominated the infrastructure.

I suppose someone on this list knows the designer of the tee shirt. Maybe we can get a
direct answer to the meaning. Ken J.
