In writing my recent bio, I was reminded of a painting that I used to
admire at an art studio in downtown Pittsburgh.
When I worked on the U.S. Steel and L.B Foster Co. writing projects
around 1979-83, I collaborated with the very talented art directors at
Barton-Denmarsh Studio downtown. One of their illustrators did an oil
painting that I hope is still on display somewhere. It was a view down
the aisle of a PRC 1700, and all of the seats were occupied by
commuters who happened to be Barton-Denmarsh employees. They were very
realistic likenesses of guys reading, sleeping and looking out the
windows.
Has anyone ever seen this painting? I assume it's in a private
collection today, but it may be on public display somewhere.
