And as I mentioned last year, I believe that nearly all - if not all - of
the 5-Spring Hill trackage and turnouts still exist under the asphalt all
the way from Spring Garden Avenue up to the loop at the end of the line
on Rhine St.. Route 5 trolleys were abandoned in October, 1957. The
line ran on Itin and Rhine Streets, and both of these streets (and the
rail in them) were simply topcoated with asphalt in May, 1959. And
that's the way it is today.

Dallas abandoned trolleys in the 1950's. In the late 80's, they removed
the asphalt from McKinney Avenue, and now they've got trolleys running
there again. And soon they'll have a couple of Toronto PCC's in service.

To add to the discussion about relocating abandoned bridges in
Pittsburgh: the McKinney Avenue trolley folks acquired a railroad bridge
and plan to reconstruct it into a turntable for turning the PCC's when
they extend their trolley line to the DART LRV station.

And I believe that within the past two years IRM acquired a bridge in
Chicago for relocation to their museum in Union, IL.
