You think PCCs and Chevys take up space? Until last year, a suburban
resident in Palatine, Illinois (about two miles from here) had the
fuselage of a 727 jet in in back yard. He has a big backyard, but it is
in a typical suburban subdivision. The neighbors complained and got a
court order to have him remove the fuselage. He balked, claiming that he
planned to rebuild it into an operating aircraft. Then, he finally gave
in one evening last (1999) summer. The next morning the 727 was gone.
No one saw it leave, and the guy is not talking about how he did it, or
where it is today.
