[PRCo] Busses vs. trolleys

All of the discussion of the various transit types Jim and others have
operated has and is really interesting. The idea that we fans have is
thinking operating a car every day would be the cats meow. But in actuality
I assume these jobs become like any other job which is routine. Working the
narrow streets, unyielding traffic, and john q. public can't be easy on a
steady diet regardless of what type of vehicle your operating.

I remember riding the Tour Tram in Toronto one day when they were using the
Witt and I thought the operator would have been pleased as punch. He sort of
responded that the fun lasted just a few days, and now even operating a Witt
was just another jjob.

W. Luther Hay, a noted trolley photographer and traction fan of the 30's and
40's from Canton, Oh was the third trick operator at Wandle tower where the
NKP crossed the PRR. When he left that tower at 7:00 am, he loved to talk
trolleys with any fan, but mention the railroad and he clammed up, he wasn't
a railroad fan, that was just a job.

So Herb, Jim, Greg and other transit operators, its great to hear your
stories about your job as it is our hobby and obviously yours too.

And while your telling us more today, Derrick can be out in the rain taking
those PCC shots in Pittsburgh. Don't forget the Flexible buses where the
frames cracked, which wasn't an April fools joke. Derrick, didn't the
Trafford Bus Lines buy some of those Flexie coaches?

Have a great day.
