Marmite is likewise a yeast extract, and appears to have a following.

How, you may be asking, do I have any working knowledge of THIS stuff? When
my daughter and I were in Ireland last spring, we went looking for some of
it to take back to a friend of hers, at the friend's specific request.
Wasn't tough; the first grocery we visited pointed immediately to the right
shelf. But we weren't up to sampling it ourselves!

Hi Don,

Good question re the difference, the Vegemite is a yeast extract but, I'm
affraid I know nothing about Marmite, never liked it much, probably just
another copy, like Coke and Pepsi.

As to my trip, the plan is, two weeks in SF and two weeks the other side,
with a few days in LA/SD on the way home well, that's the plan anyway,
depends on $$$$$$ and ours is worth peanuts at the moment!
