I had a custom lab in the family but she no longer does this! Don't
know all the details at the moment but guess she is all computerized and
even publishes a magazine this way!! She has a couple Mac machines and
an IBM for the magazine!
I have many 616 negs and have had no trouble getting the work done -
just have to wait and look around a bit -- and as Bob mentions, pay
more!! One of the employees of the rapid photo places did custom B&W
printing herself at another lab -- excellent work -- as long as she
remembered to use fixer, or fresh fixer. Some of the photos have taken
on a muddied sepia-tone finish!!
She stopped doing this work but sends it out to Kodak now. I have
gotten both 5X7 and 10X12 which allows printing of the whole negative!
I usually specify to print the whole negative and leave a border if
necessary.
