I just spent three days with David Carpenter at PTM and he volunteers
and does the instruction at Trolleyville. The trailer park was sold and the
new owners have given the museum 5 years to clear out the equipment. At a
preliminary meeting with the museum members, the hope is to keep the
collection intact and moved to a nearby site. Several options are being
pursued along that line, but nothing has come to fruition. There is another
meeting scheduled within a month to update the members.
The museum is a 510 (c) 3 nonprofit corporation run by a board of
directors. They have been able to make just enough profit over the past few
years so the family has not had to invest any money.
Operating there is difficult as bells and whistles are not permitted and
the trolleys must stop at every grade crossing in the trailer park. Imagine
coming up on someone mowing their lawn and they cannot hear you and you
cannot warn them!
Hopefully a new home will be found and the collection kept intact.
